Bugs and Future Development
Bugs:
- "About" link is sometimes partially blocked due to overlapping footer element
- Easter Egg audio can be "played" multiple times at once
- Mobile "pinch zoom" is not available, should be included if the page says it supports mobile.
Future development:
- Load a working public copy to github-pages where the source code lives
- Revisit the idea of incorporating adaptive music. Found 2 new tools, BeepBox and FMOD during the jam.
- Incorporate user-directed prompts and interactive elements.
The language in place is suggestive of "Solution Focused Brief Therapy", but I imagine maybe each page (currently a single poem or piece of writing) could link to a specific prompt or exercise the user can choose to work with, ie. text fields or art canvases, etc.
I realized during development that asking someone to write in an empty text field might not be rewarding or compelling, and speaking from a single perspective, to the reader would be more honest and inviting. But still, I would like to share more specific resources for that mode of therapy and self-led validation and questioning.
Originally, the user would have many more "choices" including color scheme for some or all of the UI elements including the footer and backgrounds. Making a choice to use a theme that appealed to me as the dev made the work simple, but also limits the appeal for some, and takes away some "agency" - the game is a bit more about "me", a bit less about "you". It's a compromise, but also a shift in power. Looks nice though; and the color scheme made other details like the itch page and site icon easier to design and better as a result. Use what you've got, make the most of what's working for you now.
It's cool to have a sketch and a structure I could build from in the future, and something to share for now.
